At the age of three, Davis announced to her parents that she wanted to be an Actor. Her first role was in the 1982 film "Tootsie" with Dustin Hoffman. Since then, she has had some iconic roles such as playing Thelma in "Thelma and Louise". During that time, Geena grew up with insecurities and self- criticism. There was one person that help her gain confidence then no other than her Thelma and Louise costar Susan Sarandon “I was now on another planet, a new, exciting, powerful planet, and Susan Sarandon was the Queen Alien, "Davis wrote in her memoir.
Since then, in 2004 Geena has founded Geena Davis Insitute on Gender in media research-based organization that advocates for gender balance, inclusion and a reduction of negative stereotyping in the entertainment industry.
