Sometimes all I feel is the feeling of being a failure, I look at my life and see that I am not worthy of people around me. These times, all I could think of is hiding somewhere, anywhere that could take me away from people and their expectations. Every mistake I make, stabs me in the heart like a knife. I am a 16-year-old student and I know that there are people like me out there, everyday facing with their fear.
Keep living their life without anyone holding them through it. Firstly, I would like to say that I understand them or anyone who feels like giving up. Because from time to time we only need to be understood. I want to share my thoughts and feelings about what I do to stop these feeling of 'failing'. Generally, I always think about what people think of me and the more I work for others, the less I look for myself. However, with David Burns's books, my interaction with reality completely changed. I have to admit that it was hard to change my opinions and views about myself, I thought about my life and figured out I was judging myself more than other people and the only person who was supposed to support me through anything was my own self. Mistakes I made did not define me, my actions did not define me.
Dr. David Burns says “Yourself cannot be equated with any one thing you do. Your life is a complex and ever-changing flow of thoughts, emotions and actions.” In his book Feeling Good, he writes that ‘perfection’ is just an illusion. There is no perfection, it is impossible and anyone who is a perfectionist guaranteed to be a loser. I learnt that our emotions could trick us, we cannot rely on them just as we cannot rely on people and their perspective about us. This blog will not be long; however, I would like to remind everyone that they can do anything they want as long as they keep going as themselves and not copy others.
