What I’ve Learned at 17: Reflections on Growth and Empowerment

As I sit here reflecting on my journey so far, I can’t help but feel both proud and grateful for the lessons I’ve learned. Being 17 is such a pivotal time—a bridge between childhood and adulthood, where you’re discovering who you are, what matters to you, and how you want to contribute to the world. Here are some of the key things I’ve learned along the way:

1. It's Okay Not to Have It All Figured Out

At 17, I used to feel pressured to have my entire life planned out—what career I’d pursue, what college I’d attend, and how I’d get there. The truth is, it's okay not to have all the answers. Life is a journey, and every step you take teaches you more about yourself. Embrace uncertainty, and let it guide you to explore new passions and opportunities.

2. You Are Stronger Than You Think

Life throws challenges at us that we never see coming. Whether it's dealing with anxiety or pushing through difficult times, I’ve learned that inner strength often reveals itself in moments of vulnerability. It’s in the times when I felt weakest that I discovered just how strong I truly am. Our minds and bodies are capable of so much more than we realize.

3. Kindness is a Superpower

I’ve met some amazing people throughout my podcasting journey, including celebrities, entrepreneurs, and everyday heroes. One thing I’ve learned from all of them is the importance of kindness. No matter how successful someone is, the way they treat others speaks volumes. Kindness can open doors, build connections, and create a positive ripple effect in the world.

4. Follow Your Passion

Launching multiple platforms like Empower Girls, Talk of Fame, and my podcast network has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my life. It all started with a desire to create change, inspire others, and share stories. Following my passion has taught me that when you do what you love, the hard work doesn't feel like a burden, and the rewards go far beyond material success. It’s about impacting lives and being part of something bigger than yourself.

5. The Importance of Mentorship

Through The Mentor Movement Podcast, I’ve learned firsthand how mentorship can transform lives. Having mentors who guide you, share their wisdom, and believe in you can make all the difference. And mentorship isn’t just about receiving; it’s also about giving back and inspiring the next generation. I’ve realized the power of paying it forward and helping others reach their potential.

6. Self-Care Isn’t Selfish

As someone who has struggled with anxiety, I know how crucial it is to take care of your mental and emotional well-being. Whether it’s yoga, journaling, or spending time with loved ones, self-care is necessary for growth. You can’t pour from an empty cup, so make sure you’re prioritizing your health—both physically and mentally.

7. Surround Yourself With the Right People

The company you keep has a huge influence on your mindset and aspirations. I’ve learned to surround myself with people who inspire me, push me to grow, and believe in my vision. Whether it’s family, mentors, or friends, having a strong support system makes a world of difference.

8. Celebrate Your Wins, No Matter How Small

It’s easy to get caught up in what’s next or to focus on what you haven’t achieved yet. But I’ve learned to pause and appreciate the wins along the way. Whether it’s releasing a new podcast episode, receiving an award nomination, or even just sticking to a new habit, every accomplishment deserves to be celebrated.

9. Growth is Ongoing

At 17, I’ve realized that personal growth doesn’t have a finish line. Every new experience, challenge, and opportunity is a chance to learn more about myself and the world. Growth is about constantly evolving, improving, and striving to be the best version of yourself.

As I move forward, I know there’s still so much more to learn, and I’m excited for what the future holds. Every lesson has shaped me into the person I am today, and I hope to continue growing, learning, and empowering others along the way. At 17, I’ve learned that life is about progress, not perfection, and that each day is a new opportunity to make an impact.
